avast professional free downloadWhich free antivirus is better for Home PC/Laptop?

i used to watch online videos, downloading movies and surfing reliable and non reliable sites...so please help me in selection an anti virus which meets all these requirements.

On CNET.com i find below figures -
1. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition # 905,902 downloads
2. Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus # 737,028 downloads
3. Avast Home Edition - Free Antivirus# 98,907 downloads
4. Avast Professional Edition# 36,132 downloads
5. AVG Anti-Virus# 36,132 downloads (may be not free)

but other sites are saying that AVIRA is best among free followed by AWAST and then AVG at the last ...

Also, please suggest whether i need to add other anti spy/malware software while using free anti vir...IF YES , please suggest a few...ONLY BEST ones....

Only single antivirus cannot help u out in tough situations ,
You need a combination of softwares to help protect ur PC .
Here is the combination that I use
Avast antivirus > Malwarebytes > Super Antispyware > Comodo Firewall .

u can use AVG or Avira FREE in place of Avast , thavast professional free downloadats ur choice
As Far as avast is concerned , u need to register for free , give them ur email address and they will send u a free licence key for avast (i.e. for 1 year ) and u are entitled to use the software for 1 year !

I changed to Avast a few months ago, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
Usavast professional free downloade avira with malwarebyte's free anti-malware and iobit security 360.Both are free.Avast is also good but not as good as avira.Also,use some good firewall like comodo, zonealarm,online armor,outpost etc.... for your pc protection.Avg sucks like no other.It has very poor detection rates.

I used AVAST Home Edition, and it works perfectly. It tells me when it detects a virus, and immediately stops it. I haven't had a virus since I got my computer.

And I do not have another software specifically for anti-spyware. I believe AVAST has it built in.
Different people have different minds. AVG is good according to my experience, and you'd better install a firewall, too.
Popular does not mean better. A lot of air-heads only go by what is popular today, instead of looking for themselves and deciding. I have tried all of the free AV's and today Avast is the best for my machine...
